Introducing Floral Therapy!
I am excited to share that I am partnering with Caroline Dore of the Houston School of Flowers to offer a new workshop, called Floral Therapy! It is a 2-hour workshop that combines mental health concepts with hands-on flower arranging as a form of self-care. The best part is you get to keep the stunning arrangement you create!
I met Caroline while taking one of her classes. Caroline was teaching my neighborhood Garden Club to make a fall floral arrangement. She is a very warm, open person, so we spent some time before class talking about our shared passion for mental health and helping others. Throughout the class, I noticed how relaxed I felt. It was amazing to use my hands and create something beautiful. As the class was ending, I approached her and asked if we could put our brains together and come up with a way to combine her talent and love of flowers with mental health concepts and coping skills. Caroline was just as excited as I was to start this new journey.
When we met again to develop the concept of our floral therapy workshop, we realized there were so many parallels between mental health and flowers. Flowers need care to blossom and grow, just like we need self-care. Making a floral arrangement causes you to slow down, pay attention, make choices with intention, and be patient with the process, which are important skills to use in many real-life situations.
The goal of our workshop is to open people’s minds to new therapy concepts and teach a new healthy coping skill-floral arranging. We are really excited about this new concept, so if you have any questions, you can reach out to both of us! Learn more and sign up on the Houston School of Flowers website that is linked below!
